BOARD OF ASSESSORS
MAY 8, 2006
Chairman Suzanne Roberge called the meeting to order at 6:30pm. Councilors present included Robert Gagne, Richard Clough, Michelle Kareckas, and Norma Tutelian. Town Manager Jeffrey A. Grossman and Assessing Agent Rosann Maurice were also in attendance.
On a motion by Mr. Gagne, seconded by Mr. Clough, it was unanimously voted to grant an abatement to Connie Rocco, Map 7 Lot 30-16 in the amount of $172.90. The application for a homestead exemption was received after the April 1st deadline due to the death of her husband.
The Board briefly discussed the Ratio Declaration & Reimbursement Application. On a motion by Mrs. Kareckas, seconded by Mr. Gagne, it was unanimously voted to accept the Assessing Agent’s recommendation and set the declared ratio at 90.2%.
The Board reviewed the York County Assessment and Return. Mrs. Kareckas was concerned with the amount of services offered and used by South Berwick. She recommended asking for a reduction in the assessment.
On a motion by Mr. Clough, seconded by Mr. Gagne, it was unanimously voted to sign the Assessors’ Return under protest.
On a motion by Mr. Gagne, seconded by Mr. Clough, it was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:42pm.
