Town of South Berwick Comprehensive Plan
(The link is found on the Director of Planning and Economic Development’s page.)
Several background issues concerning conservation were addressed: zoning walks, open space, off-road section of the Eastern Trail, bike to the Town Forest, public education, storm water, conservation, Mount Agamenticus to the Sea, river corridor, scenic vistas, urban forestry, conservation/tree growth lands, sets backs for development - forested wetland - 25 feet, shore land zoning >10 acres – 100 feet, open water wetland – 250 feet set back
Other things we talked about:
We talked about the relationship of the Great Works Land Trust and the Conservations Commission – Jeannie will be putting in more time at the land trust and backing away from her leadership role in the Conservation Commission.
Land Trust seeking a grant from New Hampshire Charitable Foundation – Piscataqua Region. Education program for schools - 6 teachers - $300 each per day, plus supplies. Supported by the Eliot and South Berwick Conservation and Historical Societies.
Great Works Watershed Coalition – Non-point source water pollution. Monitoring is done sampling in the summer river cleanup in the spring.
MS4 town – must regulate storm water
Site walk – on Thurrell Road - November 29, 2005, 7:00 am - A minor subdivision goes from 2 to 3 within 5 years. Things to look at: road up to town standards, engineering based on the re-zoning, and keep the character and protect the current use. Jim Fisk to do findings of facts for the land.
