Full Time Patrol Officer

SOUTH BERWICK POLICE DEPT. has an immediate opening for a Full Time Patrol Officer.  We are seeking qualified, motivated, and community oriented individuals to help serve in a department which embodies the philosophy of community policing.  Applicants must successfully complete the A.L.E.R.T test (MCJA), pass a physical agility test, (MCJA Standard), background investigation, psychological, polygraph exam, and medical examination.   Minimum requirements include high school diploma, valid driver’s license, be in good mental and physical condition, at least 21 years of age and have good communication skills.  Preference will be given for certified law enforcement experience, post secondary education and or military experience.

Salary will be based on experience and a very generous benefit package per union contract.  Our benefits includes employee/family health  and dental plan option, a 20-year retirement and/or 457 option,  income protection,  life insurance, longevity, incentive pay, clothing allowance, and education reimbursement.

Lateral transfers may be considered depending on full time certified status.

South Berwick’s Public Works Department is accepting applications for on-call snow plow drivers and snow shoveler/laborers.  These positions are reserve only and on an as needed basis. 

Duties for driver include:  Winter storm maintenance, plowing, salting, and general labor.  To be considered, applicants must possess a valid license with an excellent driving record, and pass pre-employment drug test.  All candidates must also pass a pre-employment background investigation.

Hourly rate for snow plow drivers is $14.11 and snow shoveler is $11.59.

SOUTH BERWICK Transfer Station has an immediate opening for a Part Time Transfer Station Attendant.  This position is 23 hours a week with the possibility of increased hours.  The scheduled days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday each week.  The majority of the work is performed outdoors.
