Full Time Patrol Officer

SOUTH BERWICK POLICE DEPT. has an immediate opening for a Full Time Patrol Officer.  We are seeking qualified, motivated, and community oriented individuals to help serve in a department which embodies the philosophy of community policing.  Applicants must successfully complete the A.L.E.R.T test (MCJA), pass a physical agility test, (MCJA Standard), background investigation, psychological, polygraph exam, and medical examination.   Minimum requirements include high school diploma, valid driver’s license, be in good mental and physical condition, at least 21 years of age and have good communication skills.  Preference will be given for certified law enforcement experience, post secondary education and or military experience.

Salary will be based on experience and a very generous benefit package per union contract.  Our benefits includes employee/family health  and dental plan option, a 20-year retirement and/or 457 option,  income protection,  life insurance, longevity, incentive pay, clothing allowance, and education reimbursement.

Lateral transfers may be considered depending on full time certified status.

Part Time Library Aide Position

The Town of South Berwick is accepting applications for a friendly, energetic, detail-oriented team member to fill a Library Aide position.  This position is part-time, working a weekly schedule of four (4) hours a week on Wednesdays with the possibility of additional hours subbing for absent library staff.   This position has the potential of increased hours in the future.  

Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, have strong technology skills and knowledge, and the willingness and ability to learn and retain new skills.  Undergraduate education preferred.  Customer service experience is desired.

Responsibilities include (as an example): serving patrons via a variety of means; assisting patrons using the public computers, performing circulation desk tasks such as checking material in and out, processing reserves and holds, performing opening and closing procedures, shelving materials accurately.

The starting pay for this position will be $12.19 per hour.

Maintenance Custodian

THE TOWN OF SOUTH BERWICK is accepting applications for a Maintenance Custodian.  The purpose of this position is to provide routine cleaning and maintenance services in town buildings; all other related work as required including cleaning floors, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, emptying and transporting garbage and recycling.  Must have experience with minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.  This position is also responsible to perform minor repairs to furniture, buildings and equipment, and does basic ground maintenance.  A complete job description and application are located in the links above.

TRANSFER STATION ATTENDANT (Part Time Hours)
SOUTH BERWICK Transfer Station is accepting applications for a Part Time Attendant as needed on Wednesdays & weekends for approx 22 hrs a week.
