Officer Ruger has a been with the department since 1997. Officer Ruger started police work in 1990 as a reserve officer in York, Maine. In 1997 he started dispatching in South Berwick and in 2000 became a Full Time Patrolman. He is a Field Training Officer for the department, an Electronic Speed Measuring Device Instructor, Taser Instructor, Computer Administrator, and is on the State of Maine Crash Reconstruction Team. Officer Ruger used to work with the Maine Police Explorer Program as a cadre each year at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Officer Ruger in November 2009 was granted the Advanced Patrol certificate by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Rhode Island.
